Punch Bowl Social: A Review
David (my husband) and I are always on the lookout for good food and good fun. Wait, are there people out there who don’t look for these things? Probably not, but, if there are, I don’t happen to know any. Anyway, back in April, after a Tiger’s game, just a few blocks from the stadium, we discovered the Punch Bowl Social. Offering up not only your typical bar style games of darts and pool, but also bowling, an arcade, Karaoke (private rooms, so you only get to torture the people closest to you) and you can also check out board games, such as Cards Against humanity. A very clever drink menu, with cute categories such as “Old Man Cans” featuring beers such as PBR and Coors among others. Old school drinks and new school drinks, they even offer “adult’ milkshakes…seriously though, order the B.B. Alexander milkshake…..bananas, brandy and caramel, well there is more to it that that of course, man was it yummy, I let a couple of other people try it on my birthday and they all ended up ordering one for themselves..*see go try it! yes, you did read that right, we enjoyed it so much we went back for my 40th birthday get together.
Beautifully, arrayed with rustic wood, antlers, mason jars, art, and silver deer heads. In other words an Instagrammers dream! Believe me not only is the Punch Bowl social, aesthetically pleasing the food is delicious and seductively presented. The food menu may appear to be slightly limited, but you will still have an enormously hard time deciding on what to eat. Which is something I actually prefer, because one your not overwhelmed with choice and two because the food is usually tastier when the chef’s only focus on a few items rather than 3 pages of food choices that turn out to be mediocre. You can sit down at the restaurant area for a nice relaxing meal, or stay on the “bar” side where all the activities are, sit at the bar or pull up a table either way, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed in the food or the service. You can also host an event on the 2nd level, which comes complete with it’s own little bowling area, a putting green, darts and a bar. Not from the Detroit area..don’t worry that have several other locations across the country with lot’s more scheduled to be opening soon.
I really enjoy places that have beautiful decor and delicious food. I’m sure you all do to, so tell me do you finding new places? Or would you rather your tried and true places?
*please drink responsibly
**PS, this is not a sponsored post, I just happen to be really excited about all the new places popping up in Detroit and want everyone to go check them out.
